Auburn, Concord, Laconia, Hebron, NH- NH Audubon Society has many hiking trails and events that are inexpensive. (**Edward's Pick!!)
Merrimack, NH-Anheuser-Busch Plant in Merrimack has the Clydesdale horses that you can visit, also on the first Saturday of the month they allow you to take pictures with the Clydesdales, 1-3pm.
They had a model railroad show a couple of years ago in the lobby that was free(and A-C in the summer is always a good thing) and they have car shows all the time for those boys that like to look at the zoom zooms!
Candia, NH-Charmingfare Farms has a nice variety of farm and wild animals, it doesn't tend to be stuffy and has places you can sit and eat your lunch.
